Decades Challenge 2008

COMPLETED: April, 2008

I just completed By the Decades Challenge and the Book Awards Challenge (all Newbery titles); overall, I enjoyed them both. Rejoining the Decades Challenge 2008 is the perfect opportunity for me to accommodate my desire to continue reading the award winning titles, so this time around I have incorporated 4 Newbery books into the mix.

Hmmm...I love a reading challenge. I will have to give some thought to commiting to this one...it's quite tempting since there are quite a few 'old' novels that I would like to read now that I'm 'older' and can appreciate them ;)

  3. 3M ~ I thought I was the only one that hasn't read Anne of Green Gables yet. It's nice to know I'm not alone. :)

Danielle ~ Stayed tuned for more lists. I'm joining two more year long challenges. They fit into what I want to read this coming year.

  4. Nice list. Would you mind if I copy your idea to include some Newbery's in my decade list? That's a great idea.

  5. Booklogged ~ Not at all! The early decades are VERY difficult for me to fill and I still have the "Newbery bug", so this worked out perfectly. I hope it works for you, too. :)

Anne of Green Gables is simply the best life to step through the pages. You can't stop at the first book... you have to read all of them, see her grow up, find out who she marries, grieve with her. These were tattered books in my childhood home.

    Enjoy!

  7. Kristin ~ Hi! I have the book from my childhood too, but unfortunately, my copy is pristine. Thanks for the encouragement; I'm looking forward to it.

  8. How great to read Anne in her 100th anniversary year of being published!
Agatha Christie has some early decades books - at least the 20s I think. Also Sherlock Holmes, if you are a mystery fan.

  9. Raidergirl3 ~ Hey...that's right about Anne! Very cool. :) I did look into some Agatha Christie books, but then went with the Newbery winners instead. Thanks for the suggestions!
