CLEMENTINE

Author: Sara Pennypacker
Genre: Children
Published: 2006
Personal Rating: 3.5/5

Clementine is a cross between Ramona and Junie B. Jones. She is a fun-loving 8-year-old that manages to continually get herself into trouble. Clementine pays close attention to the details in her environment and often conjures up her own meaning for their existance. At home and at school, we experience life from Clementine's perspective and meet her bestfriend, Margaret.

This was a cute book. I thought it had some funny scenes and Clementine's personality was one that keeps you on your toes; however, the fact that Clementine was in 3rd grade did not appear accurate in the least. The majority of the time her actions depicted a 1st grader, 2nd grade would be pushing it, but 3rd - no way. In the beginning, this caused a few shakes of my head until I envisioned her as a 1st grader and was then able to enjoy the story.
