29th Challenge Completed!

I am so glad that I joined this challenge!  My interest in short stories has always been on the surface and this gave me a sound reason (and encouragement) to jump in.  It's been a slow start, but my interest has grown.   Since this challenge began, I have purchased several collections of short stories and have seen several others that I am interested in, so I feel well-prepared and well-stocked to continue reading a short story from time to time.

Thank you Kate from Kate's Book Blog for hosting this challenge.

The Short Story Reading Challenge Reads:

Awaiting Orders (Wolff)
The Tuesday Night Club (Christie)
The Idol House of Astarte (Christie)
The Tell-Tale Heart (Poe)
Ingots of Gold (Christie)
Runaway (Munro)
Chance (Munro)
The Yellow Wallpaper (Gilman)
He (Porter)
A Clean, Well-Lighted Place (Hemingway)

Here is my original list of books with links to my thoughts.

  2. Dar ~ Another one down! :) I really do look forward to reading more short stories. Other than the Munro book I have to finish for the Canadian Challenge, I don't have a plan as to when I'll get to them, though.

  4. Dar ~ My pleasure! :) Did you see the new image? (I had a temporary Post-It note up earlier.)

BTW ~ You are getting a LOT of traffic for that give-away! How cool is that?!

  6. Dar ~ Oh! I didn't mean it to sound like I was fishing for a compliment - I'm really not like that. However, I did want you to see it being that you saw where I had the "Give-Aways" posted. Thank you, though. *blush*

I'm glad it's only you and I on this post. :)

  7. Your my reading challenge hero, Joy! Since I've started accepting books from authors and publishers I haven't been doing well on my challenges. I think about not accepting anymore, but they sound so intriguing. It's a catch-22. The books are free and usually enjoyable, but I don't get to the one's on my TBR list or those lingering on my shelves.

Any, am proud of you for doing so well. If you do short stories again, may I suggest Andrea Barrett's Ship Fever - One of my favorite books.

  8. Fiddlesticks-I know you weren't fishing for compliments-you only wanted me to see it. Besides I do think it's great-it's unique. I picked this post for that exact reason. You know I could probably email you too but I always forget. lol.

  9. Booklogged ~ I know what you mean about accepting books from authors, etc. I'm not a fan of ARC reading, but I'll do it on occasion.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'm writing it down now. :)

    Dar ~ :)

  10. Booklogged ~ I just discovered that Ship Fever won the National Book Award in 1996, so that means it fits in with the Book Award Challenge! Woo Hoo! :) I'm adding it onto that list, too. Thanks again!
