CHANCE

Author: Alice Munro
Genre: Short Story
Published: Runaway, 2004
Personal Rating: 3.5/5
(ss) Yearly Count: 7

Juliet meets her soulmate on a train ride in the second out of eight short stories in Runaway.

I didn't find myself as captivated by Chance as I was with the first story Runaway, but it still had me curious.  I somewhat related to Juliet, so was eager to discover her story.  Once again, Munro did a great job in keeping my interest with her characters.

  1. Sounds ok, but definitely not as good as the others. Glad it kept your interest though-that always helps.

  2. I looked through my anthology for Munro stories and the only one I found was an epistolary one--and that reminds me too much of A Bundle of Letters by Henry James which I hated (I generally dislike anything Henry James).

Have you read any of Atwood's short stories? I've always been curious about them.

  3. Dar ~ I look forward to more Munro. I have found it much more difficult to rate short stories.

Trish ~ No, I haven't read any Atwood short stories, but I want to read Moral Disorders and Other Stories. Its stories are supposedly linked and I'm interested in reading a collection like that. I don't remember how I came across it, but it's been on my TBR list for a while.
