In a short sentence - a woman married to a physician experiences depression.
This story was told from the woman's perspective. She shares her thoughts with the reader through her journal entries as she lives day to day with a gradual decline in her mental status. The yellow wallpaper plays a large role in her health.
Gilman's, 1892 very realistic portrayal of the slipping, human mind could be right out of someone's journal today. I find it interesting that not much has really changed in that respect, but I suppose depression is depression. The good new is that so much has changed in ways of treatment.

I *almost* read this one yesterday but then decided to try something I haven't read before. Have you seen CB's Septebmer Short Story Challenge? ReplyDeleteThis one I would definitely want to read. I don't know why but I've always been fascinated with reading about mental problems(hmmmm, maybe that's telling me something-lol). Anyhow, I think I may have to peek at this book after all these interesting reviews your shooting out.

This collection of short stories (Oxford) has very good ratings and is filled with numerous well-known authors. I'm very satisfied with it. :)
