SOMETHING BORROWED

Author: Emily Giffin
Genre: Chick Lit
Published: 2004
Personal Rating: 4/5
Yearly Count: 97

Darcy and Rachel have been best friends since elementary school. Darcy is outgoing and notorious for getting everything she wants, while Rachel is always the shadow. Their friendship is tested when the men in their lives become more than just old friends.

This was the epitome of "chick lit" and a welcomed girly diversion! I didn't have difficulty in putting it down, but I was always happy to get back to where I left off. The characters for the most part were realistic; Darcy was a little stretch, but hey - she's in a chick lit book, that's to be expected. When in need of an entertaining, beach type read, I'll pick up another Giffin book for sure.

  1. I'm glad you enjoyed this too.
You know that Something Blue is the ~somewhat sequel? It tells that story, and more, from Darcy's point of view. I preferred Borrowed, but you really need to read both, to complete the story.

I love when I find a book I like, and then there are more to read.

  3. I've got this and Something Blue on the shelf to read. I'm just going to be starting Love the one you're With by Giffin and I've read Baby Proof which was quite good. I'm looking forward to getting into the other two eventually also. Thanks for the review-nice to know it's enjoyable.

  4. Raidergirl3 ~ Yep, I know Something Blue comes after, but I thought there were more. Apparently the rest of her books are standalones. You have me intrigued to find out Darcy's side of the story. I may have to pick it up sooner than I thought. I still need one more Chick Lit for this challenge. Hmmmmm :)

Ladybug ~ If you like chick lit, then you should like this. I enjoyed Giffin's writing style - it flowed.

Dar ~ I'm not a big fan of chick lit, but one every now and then can be a good thing. I will read more by her as it was a refreshing break. (not that I read deep literature) :)
