When Mia, a senior in high school, is in a car accident with her family, she goes through the thought process of whether or not she wants to fight to live.
Mia, along with her friends and family, are good characters and the story line is a sentimental one. Even though I wasn't deeply affected by her story, it did have some tender moments that I appreciated. For the most part, it is told in flashbacks and has an overall bittersweet flavor.
I love the cover of this one but I think yours is the first review I've read. It sounds pretty good. "Bittersweet" books are not my favorite, but I may give it a try one day.
ReplyDeleteSince I'm not a very fast reader and have such a large stack waiting for me, I'll pass on this one.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like something I'd enjoy.
ReplyDeleteBookfool ~ Tee Hee I love seeing that thinking cap fellow! :) The cover is what originally drew me to the book, then I began to hear great things about it. Supposedly it's similar to The Lovely Bones if you read that. Eek! I haven't. I started it one time, but just didn't feel like reading it right then. It's on my iPod and on my shelf - waiting. I think I'll listen to it soon because I heard the movie is coming out.
ReplyDeleteBooklogged ~ For me, it was good. I don't feel like I wasted my time, but it wasn't fantastic like others have said.
Bermudaonion ~ Like I said to Bookfool, if you like The Lovely Bones, then you should like this one.
Joy,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like my thinking cap person (I like to think of it as me with my blonde curls contained out of view . . . okay, it really doesn't look like me).
I've avoided The Lovely Bones, actually. It just sounded too grim to me. Hmm. Still . . .
I really loved this book. One of my favorites of the year for YA. It is very bittersweet.
ReplyDeleteStaci ~ That's great, Staci! I haven't read too many YA books this year that I really loved - just a few. It is such a blessing when a book hits the right spot and you melt in its magnificence, isn't it? I continually strive to get to those books. Glad this one did it for you. :)
