UGH! I wasted 5.5 hours of my precious listening time on this book! I actually was going to stop a lot earlier, but kept hoping that the next story (told in a short story, time-shifting format) would bring me to where I needed to be. It didn't happen. I'm done.
I read one book by her, The Keep, and was less than impressed. And then, after hearing the comments she made about some of her contemporaries in a recent speech, I decided I wouldn't be reading her again. Glad to hear I'm not missing out on anything by not reading this one.
ReplyDeleteHAHA!! This makes me want to read the book JUST to see what was so awful. ;)
ReplyDeleteSorry this didn't work for you.
ReplyDeleteCan I just say that I thought the title was stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBummer!! And it's an award winner. Oh, well. I doubt I'll give it a try.
ReplyDeleteCassie ~ You've made me curious as to what she said. No matter, I won't be picking up another.
ReplyDeleteTrish ~ LOLOLOL You just go right ahead AND enjoy it while you're at it! Tee Hee
There really wasn't anything awful. I just didn't care for the style in which it was written and didn't have any interest in the characters or story line. That's all. *smirk*
Bermudaonion ~ Did you read it?
Staci ~ HaHaHaHaHa Yes, you can, and I would agree with you!
I never planned on reading it, but I had seen that it won awards, many bloggers liked it (that I saw) and it is Goodreads pick for their book club. So, when I was at the library I saw the audiobook and brought it home. I thought it would be good to have Goodreads as a place to refer to for discussion. (didn't join the club, just read the comments)
Les ~ Hey! You snuck in there. :)
ReplyDeleteI only liked the first story, the rest were of no interest to me. It's highly acclaimed, so don't take my word for it. You may love it, and if you do - I promise I'll forgive you. :)
