IN MY PARENT'S BEDROOM (2 of 5)

Author: Uwem Akpan
Genre: Short Story Collection
Published: Say You're One of Them, 2008
Personal Rating: 3.5/5 (good)
Format:  Audiobook
(ss) Yearly Count: 47

A nine-year-old is in the middle of a war zone in her own home.

Told from a nine-year-old's point-of-view makes this story a bit perplexing, which is what I imagine it would feel like in real life, along with fear and heartbreak.

  1. I found this to be a powerful story told from the perspective of a child. I read the book and can imagine that the audio book may be more powerful.

  2. Bonnie ~ I listened to this when I was walking outside and really wasn't in the mood, but listened anyway. I think it probably is a better story than I felt at the time. It happens!
