Eek! This is a Newbery winner, and I have abandoned it! So sad. :( It was time to move on when I began CD 3 of 7 and realized while I liked the main character, I wasn't enjoying the storyline.
Sometimes the Newbery's just aren't that wonderful! But I have had high hopes for this one. Maybe I will just read it and not listen to it???
ReplyDeleteStaci ~ Honestly, you will probably like it. I think this is the case of the reader, not the writer. There's a "diviner" in the story, and I'm not a fan - no matter how they are used to move the plot along. As for the audio, I wasn't keen on her either, so maybe reading it would be best.
DeleteYikes! Sorry you didn't like this one. It's the first Newbery winner I've liked in a few years. I'd think this one would be "hard" to listen to though with the newsletters, letters, flashbacks, etc.
ReplyDeleteAh well ... you didn't like this year's winner either, if I recall. Those Newberys are tricky things. I've hated a few modern ones that the majority seemed to love. Go figure ...
Nicola ~ So far this year, my reading life hasn't been all that stellar, so I really need to put books down that I'm not enjoying and use my time wisely. I've had way too many books below a 3 (just okay) and that is not okay.
