Author: Lisa Gardner
Genre: Mystery, D.D. Warren Series #3
Published: 2009
Personal Rating: 4.25/5 (very good +)
Format: Audiobook
Yearly Count: 52
A small family of three looks charming on the outside, but something is amiss when the young mother disappears in the middle of the night, leaving her 4-year-old daughter home alone.
I enjoyed the multitude of suspects and the fact that I was unable to figure out who was really telling the truth. That held my interest to the very end. I also liked that it was told by a variety of narrators. The only thing I found missing was suspense. I was not sitting on the edge of my seat and/or shocked by anything, but it truly was a very good whodunit audioread*. I'm really looking forward to the next in the series titled Live To Tell, which is already queued up on my iPod!
*Term I picked up from an article in Shelf Awareness
I am just about finished with Catch Me the latest DD Warren book on audio. Ever since listening to the second book, I always choose audio over print.
ReplyDeleteNise ~ I'm really excited about continuing with this series. I've listened to the first three and will try to listen to the rest providing my library system has them. I'm good with #4!
DeleteI love the DD Warren books! This is the first one I read though, so I don't remember it too well. I'll be posting a review of her newest one soon, tomorrow I think.
ReplyDeleteNicola ~ Have you read any in her other series? I have several of them, but haven't picked one up yet.
DeleteI don't think I've listened to a book read by more than one narrator yet. I noticed the "audioread" term at SA this week too :-)
ReplyDeleteMary ~ All three did a great job! That audioread term struck me as perfect. :) I will continue to use it.
DeleteI've read one of her books and liked it. I haven't tried them on audio but if you liked it I may have to hunt up the first one!
ReplyDeleteStaci ~ I've been very happy with this series so far. I rated them 3.75, 4 and now 4.25. Interesting, huh? And, they were all audiobooks.
