PRESUMED INNOCENT

Author:  Scott Turow
Genre:  Fiction, Kindle County Series #1
Published:  1987
Personal Rating:  4/5 (very good)
Format:  Audiobook
Yearly Count:  56

The married, prosecuting attorney of Kindle County, Rusty Sabich, is charged with the murder of a female colleague.

I have wanted to read this book since it came out!  While it wasn't a bucket list item, it certainly feels good to finally get to a book that's been on my mind for 25 years!  Whew!

For the most part, I really enjoyed the narration of this audiobook and the plot.  I did figure out the mystery, so there was no surprise for me, but it was interesting nonetheless.  I liked all the characters, courtroom scenes and discussions about the case.  My only complaint was that the story tended to be a little slow.  Overall, it was a very good audioread!

    1. Bermudaonion ~ Taking the surprise out of it, most likely changed my emotions. I'm sure I would have thought it was better than "very good" had I not figured it out. Figuring it out didn't feel like figuring it out either. I sensed it from the beginning.

  2. Did you see the movie? It's from a long time ago, back when Harrison Ford was all that. Loved the movie, and even after seeing it, wasn't completely sure of the motive at the end. I think I read the book after, but can't remember if they had the same ending.

    1. Staci ~ Me, too! :) I have several in this series, but I have so many other books I want to try before continuing. At least I have them for when the mood strikes.

  4. That's an old title that I enjoyed as well - Turow has written some good thrillers

  6. Haven't read the book, but recently re-watched the movie, and it still held up. Whew! There is a sequel to the book set many years later called Innocent. Kay wrote about it here:

    1. Nan ~ Glad to know that the movie still held up! According to Fantastic Fiction, Innocent is the 8th in the series. Amazon indicates it as a sequel. So . . . hmmmm. I have more exploring to do before I read any more by him.

    1. Les ~ I can't remember ever doing that - movie first, then book. I wouldn't go back even if I did love it. :) I do want to watch the movie, since reading the book though.

I really liked the movie but never did read the book. I read a more recent one by Turow that includes a few of the chraracters from this one, although a while down the road so not necessarily a sequel.
