Genre: Thriller, D.D. Warren Series #4

A brutally murdered family (possible murder/suicide) has D.D. Warren feeling like there has to be more to the story than she is seeing. D.D.'s search leads her to a children's psychiatric ward.
This has turned out to be a solid series for me. I have enjoyed every one of them and feel confident that I'll like the next, too. That makes Gardner a successful author in my book. However, I have to admit that I don't think highly of D.D. as a detective. Her character doesn't hold my attention or really even require my attention. Thankfully, Gardner writes interesting plots, so I guess the detective doesn't need to be the focal point. No matter, the series has me wanting more.

I love this series too! I have the same thoughts on D.D. Not impressed with her character as a person, but you are at the point where she starts to "improve" somewhat from here.
