During the depression, eggs are disappearing from a family's henhouse.
Ahhh, so happy to be reading more Ron Rash! This was a good story . . . better than good, actually. Some of the scenes I'd rate as very good even, but I didn't feel the oomph needed to qualify it as a very good read overall. Not that oomph is always necessary. I'm definitely looking forward to story #2.
One scene in that story made me feel sick to my stomach, but I thought the book was great!
ReplyDeleteBermudaonion ~ I love Ron's work, so I'm confident the collection will be a success. The scene you are referring to was certainly shocking!
DeleteHe wrote The Cove, right? I'm digging the cover....hope the other 10 stories are good!
ReplyDeleteStaci ~ Yep! If you like country noir, I suggest One Foot in Eden. Loved it!
DeleteI have this on my wish list at the library but haven't actually checked it out yet. I need to remedy that. I love Ron Rash's writing so much.
ReplyDeleteSuziQoregon ~ I didn't read many short stories last year, so I decided to start out with an author that I knew I would like. :)
