Sara Linton, a Medical Examiner, is called to the scene of an apparent suicide near the local college campus.
I was very engaged in this book until the plot began to focus on Lena, a former policewoman. I didn't care for her character at all. The actual mystery was fine, but it was not a favorite in this series. This book solidified that I'm a bigger fan of Slaughter's Will Trent series. It's more edgy, which I prefer.
I'm with you, Joy. I love Will Trent and I can't stand Lena. I understand the new one coming out this summer will return Lena to our radar. I used to not like Sara very much, but I've enjoyed her in later books.
ReplyDeleteKay ~ I'm so happy to "see" you! I miss you!
DeleteI plan on catching up on Will before coming back to Sara/Lena.
I remember this one and felt much the same as you did about the story. I still love this author though..she's so much better than the sellout that writes Kay Scarpetta. Yes, I'm bitter :)
ReplyDeleteStaci ~ Yep, Slaughter has a talent. I just prefer Will. :)
DeleteI have this book around here somewhere. I've never been in a hurry to read it.
ReplyDeleteStacybuckeye ~ I love Slaughter's writing, but that Lena character has got to go. Or at the very least change.
