Three teen boys get into a heap of trouble when one of them decides to keep something important he finds on the job at the dumpsite.
Despite the sadness the squalor in this book invokes, it was really a good story. The numerous characters narrating it was a surprise, but I didn't mind! They actually helped the story progress by sharing their point-of-view when they were most involved. It was a smart way to tell the story and to depict the varying lifestyles and problems of this unnamed country. The plot was filled with action and for the most part, kept my interest.
Thoughts of Joy
This is the second review I've read of this and both have said good things about the book. It sounds like I need to read it.
ReplyDeleteBermudaonion ~ I think it's a worthy read. :)
DeleteI've never heard of this before and it sounds great!
ReplyDeleteNicola ~ I have NO idea where I originally saw it. Well, now maybe I do - wherever Bermudaonion above saw it. :) Anyway, I almost rated it higher! I didn't because there was a point where I was not caring as much. It probably was me and not the book, but that's how I rate. Ya gotta keep my attention. *insert a pic of Joy sillily sticking out her tongue*
DeleteThis does sound good! I will have to give it a try. I have never listened to a book with more than one narrator.
ReplyDeleteLiterary Feline ~ OH! The narration (4 or 5 or so) were fantastic. I think this book was done exception well.
