SILENCING SAM

Author:  Julie Kramer
Genre:  Mystery, Riley Spartz Series #3
Published:  2010
Personal Rating:  3/5 (just okay)
Format/Narrator:  Audiobook/Renee Raudman
Yearly Count:  10

Riley gets riled (yes, pun intended) when a gossip columnist uses her as his article target, until she targets him with a glass of wine.  Soon after, Sam turns up dead.  Guess who is the prime suspect?

This was another easy listen and perfect while working on a home-improvement project (removal of wallpaper - ACK!).  It kept my mind busy, but wasn't over-taxing, which could deter me from getting the job done efficiently.

Everybody in this edition seemed like they were trying too hard to be a character, and none of them captured my interest.  I think the new narrator (different reader than the first two in the series) had more of an impact (negative) on that than the actual characters.  She changed the experience.  However, the storyline wasn't very intriguing either, but I did learn a little about turbines.  I'm still thankful for the audio keeping me entertained during a grueling job.

  1. I am glad you were entertained by this one even if it wasn't a favorite, Joy.

The mention of wall paper made me think of the touch up remodeling the building management company has had done on the office I work. The contract said they'd repaint the walls, but not replace the wall paper. The hallway walls are wall-papered. After an argument (building owner versus my agency) as to whether or not anything had to be done about the wall-paper, the painters just painted over it.

    1. Literary Feline ~ I've heard about people doing that. I still have 2 more bedrooms and a bathroom to tackle. UGH. It won't be any time soon . . . maybe Summer.

  2. Anything that can somewhat entertain during wallpaper removal is worth it. We found someone that does it super cheap so we have spoiled ourselves a little :)

    1. Stacybuckeye ~ While it's grueling to remove wallpaper, I can handle it. It's the painting that I HATE! I think we will be hiring someone for that from this point forward!
