An older woman is called home (across the country) to attend a funeral and invites her hairdresser to accompany her.
Yay! This was a very good book. I have to admit, I had a teeny-tiny melt down when I discovered there were two storylines and two timeframes . . . again (my last experience was not a good one)!!! Thankfully, the utter pain of that realization only lasted for a few moments, because it was handled with perfection! :) I had no problem with the time shifts and enjoyed both storylines. PHEW!
Thoughts of Joy
I'm glad you liked this one, Joy. I have a copy in my TBR pile. I generally like dual time periods, although the historical timelines tend to hold my interest more over the modern timelines.
ReplyDeleteLiterary Feline ~ I think I tend to like the historical timeline best, too. I have the book, but went with the audio for time sake.
DeleteI was in the minority with this book - I thought it was just okay.
ReplyDeleteBermudaonion ~ For once I wasn't! :)
DeleteI listened to this one too and I thought it was great! Glad you liked it! :)
ReplyDeleteTricia ~ The simple pleasure of enjoying a book really isn't so simple. I wish it happened more often for me.
DeleteSo glad you enjoyed this one!! I'm right there with you on the alternating POVs and time periods, but this one worked just fine.
ReplyDeleteHave you read A Man Called Ove? I think you might enjoy it, Joy!
Les ~ I have the eBook (or eGalley) of AMCO. Hmmmmm. I wonder if I should consider bumping it up my very flexible list of TBR books.
