Detective Hank Palace, who was promoted due to pre-apocalyptic predictions, takes his job seriously -- even with the impending doom. He is determined to solve a suspicious hanging.
The first 2/3 was much more intriguing to me than the last 1/3. I'm not sure why, but I started losing interest in the topic. Picking up the next in this trilogy won't happen soon, but I'm still interested in reading it. Mainly because I did like the doggedness of Palace.
Thoughts of Joy
I didn't feel a sense of urgency with this book like I thought I should. For me, it was just okay.
ReplyDeleteBermudaonion ~ I didn't sense any urgency either.
DeleteI discussed this one with my mystery book group last year. We had a good discussion. Many of the group were skeptical about reading it because they thought it was 'sci-fi'. I told them that it's good to branch out now and then. I haven't read #2 and #3 yet either. One day.
ReplyDeleteKay ~ I wish I liked it more.
