I might be interested in joining too! Will have to have a think about my books!!!
ReplyDeleteSome YA I loved when I was younger was
Looking for Alibrandi- Melina Marchetta
Alison- Margaret Watts
Dear Venny Dear Saffron- Libby Hathorn
They are all Australian books. So if anyone is looking for books to add to their lists, they are all good!!!
Happy reading!!!
(Can books we are reading in another challange be crossed over into this one too??)
Lulu ~ Thanks for the suggestions! :) And, yes, books can be crossed over.
ReplyDeleteHi Joy,
ReplyDeleteI've always read a LOT of YA, as they're great for quick comfort reads. If you want some recommendations I'd be happy to oblige, but don't want to overwhelm you by too long a list un-requested ;-)
Maria (maria.elmvang at gmail dot com)
Oh, come on! Do you really have to keep coming up with all these great challenges?!! No point in even trying to resist this one...I'll be back later with my list.
ReplyDeleteMaria ~ I seem to have too many now! :) All I did was look up YA books on Barnes & Noble and was flooded with new titles. Some of them I had seen before and forgot about and others were brand new to me. What fun! It'd be great if you would take a quick look at my list of possibilities and share your thoughts. Thanks again, Maria. :)
ReplyDeleteDebi ~ *snicker* I'm gearing this coming year to books I really want to read ... not "broadening my horizons" as I did this year. YA books have been one genre that keeps popping up. I'll stop by your blog when you have a list ready. :)
hey, thanks for letting me know about this challenge. somehow i'd missed it! :)
ReplyDeletei would definitely like to join in. i'm still working on sorting out my 2008 challenges, but i'll be back with a list sometime soon.
Alisonwonderland ~ Oh good! See you soon. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Joy! This will be my first reading challenge. I love YA books so I bet this is going to be a fun challenge! Do I have to list out my books now?
ReplyDeleteJosette ~ Hooray! Glad you're jumping in! No, you don't have to have your list now, but when you do, you or I can link that post to Mister Linky, so others can see it too.
ReplyDeleteHoping joining will get my TBR pile down
ReplyDeleteI have always wondered what adults see in chilren's literature. Guess I will find out.
ReplyDeleteSuefitz ~ I hope it has given you some incentive. :)
ReplyDeleteGrilsgood ~ I understand your thought process. :) Have you read The Book Thief (Zusak)? That's a great example of a YA book that's excellent.
I can't understand the snobbery some adults express when they see me reading a YA novel. They imply that they understand that I'm only reading it because I'm a secondary teacher....
ReplyDeleteNo. I'm reading it because it's a good story. A good story resonates, no matter which age it's pitched at. So I'm in. Yippee!
Frogdancer ~ Glad you're joining us. I look forward to seeing your list!
ReplyDeleteI love YA Literature and really believe it is some of the best reading material being written today.
ReplyDeleteThis should be a great challenge.
Pam ~ Hooray! Glad to have you. I've enjoyed the YA books I have read thus far and look forward to reading the ones on my list. Now I have another list to peruse. :)
ReplyDeleteI love having an excuse to read even more Young Adult Books - I've posted a list and really look forward to taking part and reading everyone else's comments and recommendations. Now I just have to be patient until January!
ReplyDeleteGeraniumCat ~ I'm happy to give you an excuse to read more YA. :) I'll be by to check out your list.
ReplyDeleteI don't normally take on challenges as I have to read so much for work I can't guarantee completing them but given that my work involves Children's Literature there's no excuse for missing this one. I look forward to seeing what everyone choose to read.
ReplyDeleteAnn ~ No worries! It's just for fun. :) I love seeing what everybody chooses, too. And what they think of them afterwards. I'm keeping my eyes open for your list!
ReplyDeleteI'm in! This one sounds great Joy and it will clear lots of space off of my TBR Bookshelf!
ReplyDeleteChris ~ Hooray! :)
ReplyDeleteOf course I'll join! I'll make the list now, but it won't take too long, most of the books I have on my TBR pile are young adult so easy peasy!
ReplyDeleteValentina ~ Yippee skippee! Glad to have you with us. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in. I just have to think of the 12 books.
ReplyDeleteI've added my link. Thanks for hosting this challenge. Young adult literature helps cleanse the palate after some of those more grown-up novels.
ReplyDeleteN.Vasillis ~ Oh good! I sent you an e-mail regarding the In Their Shoes blog.
ReplyDeleteFramed ~ I'm really just discovering and appreciating their value. :) I've opened a HUGE door!
This will be my first challenge. I just started my blog. Very excited and can't wait to start. =)
ReplyDeleteChefgirly ~ Oh good! I'm glad you jumped right in. I'll come by to see your new blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Joy :) This is a great idea for a challenge - count me in! Thank you for hosting it!
ReplyDeletei've posted my list - with six alternates! there are just so many interesting YA books out there. my TBR list is growing - and it's all your fault. :)
ReplyDeletethanks again for hosting this terrific challenge!
Woo, super idea, count me in! I will have NO problem finding books for this one. The problem will be limiting it to 12! :)
ReplyDeleteAlison ~ Woo Hoo! I'm coming over to see. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read too many YA books, so this has opened up a whole new world. I can't wait to start reading them!
Tiny ~ I've discovered the limitation problem as well! :)
NYMETH! ~ I'm sorry! How did I miss your comment??? I'm so glad you are joining us. Can't wait to see your list.
ReplyDeletethanks for the welcome, joy! lookng forward to this challenge ... i have quit a number of YA books piled up already!
ReplyDeleteIt's ok - you can relax now - I am here - LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteList will come later but i am in :)
Sally ~ Phew! I'm so glad! :) I'll be by soon to see what you've chosen.
ReplyDeleteCome on back and visit Joy - I have 8 up on my list - will save 4 spots for anything that catches my eye next year :)
ReplyDeleteHi Joy,
ReplyDeleteI'm playing too. It was Framed's comment about cleansing the palate that made me realize I would be reading these anyway. It's at the point with these challenges where keeping track is harder than the reading of the books.
Sally ~ I've been back!
ReplyDeleteRaidergirl3 ~ Yippee! I know what you mean about keeping track. I have coded my lists and cross-challenged almost all my choices. It's the only way I could participate in them without over booking myself. (That pun was not intended, but I like it.)
I just posted my list (also posted on my blog at http://laurabaas.com/books-buzz/blog-book-challenge/). I'm excited to begin.
ReplyDeleteLaura ~ I'll be by for a visit very soon. I'm excited, too! :)
ReplyDeleteok, now you're just making me read more. i can't help it. it is like gravity is sucking me in.
ReplyDeleteMelanie ~ That's a good thing right!?! :)
ReplyDeleteI am quite interested in doing this challenge. I will post my list on my blog soon, as soon as I sort out a few more YA books to read.
ReplyDeleteTrinah ~ I commented on your blog. Would you like me to link your name with your post on Mister Linky?
ReplyDeleteYes, please link my name with the post on Mister Linky. I'm new the the Mr Linky thing so I'm not exactly sure what to do yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm keen to give a reading challenge a go. I've never done this before. I've been a member of groups on yahoo for a long time. Quite new to blogging and the intricacies involved here. I was making my list and feel that some may be more kids books than strict YA. Any rules about that?
ReplyDeleteLouise ~ I'm so glad this challenge has caught your eye! :) It's been fun discovering all the YA readers.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question, I'm going to leave that decision up to you; however, Young Adult (YA) books are usually geared towards the teen years. You might find it helpful to look up your choices on Amazon; it often indicates whether a book is YA or not.
I found too many books I want to read and have sitting at home. It's going to be hard to narrow it down. I'm looking forward to this challenge!
ReplyDeleteJuli ~ Welcome! I'm so glad you are joining us.
ReplyDeleteHurrah! I read a great deal of teen fiction. Yay for all of the new folks dipping their toes in the YA water.
ReplyDeleteLittle Willow ~ I know!!! Isn't it great! AND...I'm one of the newbies of teen fiction. I'm very excited for the challenge to begin. Are you joining us?
ReplyDeleteSarcastic Red Head ~ Hi and Welcome! I couldn't leave a comment on your site, so I wanted to make sure you knew that I know you are here! :)
ReplyDeleteMichelleD ~ Welcome to the YA Challenge! I'm unable to post on your site, but I saw your list. Looks like a good one!
ReplyDeleteI am joining! I love YA lit, plus as a high school teacher it makes sense for me to keep up with YA novels!

You can read my thoughts (or just scroll to see the ones that are rated highly) and click on the links of others to get suggestions. That should give you many to choose from. :)
