SHOPAHOLIC & BABY

Sophie Kinsella
Genre: Chick-Lit
Published: 2007
Personal Rating: 4.5/5
Yearly Count: 1

Fun stuff! I had a grin on my face for the majority of this book. It was packed with a variety of adventures featuring Becky, along with her family and friends. The humor and nonsense of her antics were continuous - making this fifth in the series such a delight!

  1. I never really thought I would like those books. But hearing how much you enjoy them, I think it might be worth a try sometime when I'm in the mood for something light. You haven't steered me wrong yet.

  2. I was talking ot a good friend, and saying how unrealistic Becky was, nobody would actually look after their money that way.
She sheepishly said she was exactly like Becky.
    oi.

  3. Debi ~ They are great books to break up serious reading or when you just need a laugh. I have liked 1, 2, and 5 the best.

Also, the author has surprised me at some of the turns. You think they are very predictable, but I was fooled a time or two. :)

Raidergirl3 ~ She IS unrealistic (which surprises me that I like her), but if you go into them knowing it's just fun silliness . . . it works out. She really makes me shake my head sometimes, but it's always with a big grin. :)

  4. my baby sister - she's 27, but she'll always be my baby sister - turned me on to the Shopaholic. i really wasn't sure what i thought at first, but i've enjoyed all five in the series so far! i also really liked Kinsella's The Undomestic Goddess.

  5. Alison ~ Outside of the Shopaholic series, I read Can You Keep a Secret. I rated it a 3.75/5, but I don't have much memory of it.

Kinsella has a new one coming out at the end of February titled Remember Me? I'd love to pick it up, but I don't have room for it right now. I want to get a jump on all my challenge reads.

  6. Joy: i put Remember Me? on my draft list for "In the Pub" - so that makes it "required" reading, right? :)

  7. Alison ~ OH MY GOODNESS!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have one more slot for The Pub. Yes, in deed, it is now "required" reading. *giggle*

Such a fun read, a break from to many serious reads. If you are like me and read a lot of literary fiction, this 'Chick Lit' is the way to go

  11. Madeleine ~ Actually, I don't read a lot of literary fiction or chick-lit; I'm kind of in the middle. However, this series is fun and I plan to read to more. :)
