DEAD UNTIL DARK

Author: Charlaine Harris
Genre: Paranormal, Series
Published: 2001
Persoanl Rating: 2.25/5 (not enjoyable +)
Format: Audiobook
Yearly Count: 105

Human, yet with the "disability" to read minds, Sookie Stackhouse meets the love of her life. While his name is simple, Bill leads nothing like a simple life, because Bill is a vampire.

I experienced many thoughts throughout this book, most were negative, but I continued to try and enjoy the book for its "take-you-away" value. That mindset helped me maintain interest, but I certainly wasn't riveted and shook my head much of the time.  Even though I knew this most likely wasn't going to be for me, I'm so glad I gave it a try.  My curiosity has now been put to rest.  Good night and good riddance to this series.

  1. This series is wildly popular, but I felt pretty much the same way you did when I read this book.

  2. I've been curious about this series, but not enough to ever try the first book. Wonder if I'd like it. Maybe I should just watch the tv show.

  3. And that is the best part...you no longer need to wonder if you should read this series!! I've only read the first one and enjoyed it for the most part, but I'm not out running for the next one either.

  4. This is the first book in the series? I've always been curious and have thought that I might enjoy these as just fun books. So you're not going to try the next one to see if it's better? Ha! ;)

  5. Bermudaonion ~ Honestly, I don't see the draw, but hey - to each their own.

Les ~ I was curious for a very, very long time. The audiobook happened to appear before my eyes, so I went with it. Glad to know I don't need to add this series to my list.

Staci ~ Absolutely! I'm happy with that because I really wanted to know what was so intriguing and discovered it wasn't for me. Relief! :)

Trish ~ On occasion, I like to break up my reading by trying new genres and venturing out of my comfort zone. This one was just too far outside - not my cup of tea. Like Bermudaonion says, it's "widely popular," so if you like it, you'll have a crowd to hang with.

I was surprised that I liked this one when I read it a few months ago. I will probably continue on at some point. There's something deliciously off about it.
