The life of widowed, 80-year-old Emily is doled out chapter by chapter by chapter.

I did not enjoy this book at all.  However, I found the writing to be spot on and very realistic, but that just added to my dismay.  There were so many topics/scenes that in one way or another touched a nerve and made for uncomfortable listening or provoked a "Who cares?" from me.  I just didn't find Emily's story endearing or anything to enjoy.  Overall, it was somewhat sad and depressing.  Boo.  It certainly didn't make getting older seem like a blessing.

Please check out her review for much more uplifting thoughts on this novel.  Sorry, Les.  It just rubbed me the wrong way.

  1. Sorry this was a stinker for you.

  2. Oh, so sorry to see that you didn't like this one at all. I do like this author and I have been planning to read this one at some point.

    1. Staci ~ You'll probably love it like the majority of readers. I hope you do. :)

Well, getting older is better than the alternative (at least most of the time), even if it is cliche :)

    1. Stacybuckeye ~ Interestingly enough, I say that little ditty all the time. :)

  4. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy this one! I wonder if the written novel is a better experience than the audio. I often wonder this when I'm not impressed with a popular book. I agree that it was a bleak story, but I liked the glimpse into the future, lonely as that may be!

    1. Les ~ I also wonder about audiobooks sometimes, but I didn't like the storyline, anyway.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. :)

I hope you have a great day and ...
Happy Reading!
