Jenny, a high-school student, is given a controversial drug to help erase a traumatic event. With that success comes the fact that it's a failure, as well. Not knowing was causing even more of an emotional toll on Jenny.
I didn't think I was going to like this book after hearing only one narrator talk and talk and talk. I gave it some more time and . . . I couldn't stop listening. Listening to the topic and graphic nature of the storyline was still difficult, but it was presented very well. The characters, the suspense, the memory function explanations, the dilemmas raised regarding childrearing, marriage issues -- virtually everything captivated me. It wasn't perfect, but I found it to be an excellent audioread.
Thoughts of Joy
I'm going to consider this the next time I use an Audible credit.
ReplyDeleteBermudaonion ~ Oh good! I look forward to reading your thoughts.
DeleteYay! An excellent book. I actually have the audio of this one to listen to at some point. Will try to get to it soon.
ReplyDeleteKay ~ Eek! There are mixed reviews on this. Well, when aren't there mixed reviews?! I, personally, really enjoyed it. It hit the spot. Love, love, love when that happens.
DeleteBtw ~ Soooooooo very happy to see you!
Ooh, a 4.5 star book, and my audiolibrary has it! I'll try to get to it this summer. I see that Dylan Baker is the narrator - I listened to another book by him, Argo, and thought he was excellent. But then, I did enjoy him on The Good Wife!
ReplyDeleteRaidergirl3 ~ HI! Recommendation . . . check. Audiolibrary . . . check. Narrator . . . check. Yep! You need to give it a try. :) :) :)
