Best Reads of 2018

Reading 52 books was quite the task for me this year.  I even had to read several graphic novels in the last few weeks of the year to make it!  Did I have to read 52 books?  Of course not; however, I did enjoy reading.  I'm usually doing something else these days and being "forced" to read was a pleasure.  What I didn't like was the pressure.  I have removed the pressure by only pledging to read 26 books in 2019 with the hope that I read more.

2018 brought me 21 books that I rated a 4/5 (very good) or above.  My favorites are below:

1.  Every Note Played (Genova) ~ Realistic Fiction
4.25/5 (very good +)

2.  Engaging Students with Poverty in Mind (Jensen) ~ Non-Fiction
4.25/5 (very good +)

3.  Escape From Camp 14 (Harden) ~ Memoir
4.25/5 (very good +)

  2. So nice to see a post from you! I've really got to read the Genova book. I think I might reread the ones of hers that I've read and then catch up on them. Maybe. I know you're not reading as much as in the past, but I still love to see and hear about what you've been up to. Happy New Year!

    1. Kay ~ Nice to see a comment from you! :) I'm not a rereader. Too many books and all that. I actually miss reading as much as I used to, but there are just only so many hours in a day. I focus on doing what I really want to do at the moment. Books will never go away, but they just aren't the focus right now. Happy New Year!

  3. Escape from Camp 14 looks like something that I should read but would be very upsetting.

    1. Stacybuckeye ~ It is upsetting, especially because it's current. However, I definitely feel more informed. How's Gage?!

  4. I really enjoyed Every Note Played, as well, but I think a few of her earlier books were better.

    2. Yep, I'm definitely used to Oregon now. Don't miss Nebraska at all, although I miss my friends out there.
