I was engaged throughout, with one twist surprising me.

I had a lot of confusion keeping characters straight at first.  Ultimately, it was just an okay read for me.  10-9-25

This made me angry for reasons I can't share without spoilers.  Let's just say you need to suspend your disbelief, and be ready for over-the-top scenarios.  All the while, try not to dislike everybody.  My rating isn't lower, because I wanted to know what happened next.  10-12-25

I enjoy Ventura's writing style, but this one was a bit too repetitious.  10-20-25

I actually thought there would be something more to the plot, so I'm a bit disappointed.  He did make me feel a lot of emotions throughout, and I don't think I'll forget it anytime soon.  (It is currently mid-December, and I still think about this book.)  10-22-25

I'm very glad that I read this, so I don't have to keep wondering if I would enjoy it.  I was bored and thought it was slow, but I also somewhat enjoyed it and wanted to know the outcome, which I did predict.  10-22-25

The storyline wasn't enjoyable, but I remained interested.  However, there was one twist I didn't expect.  I have read so many of McFadden's books and will continue to do so, but I hope for something more thrilling.  10-28-25
