Words are phenomenal, don't you think!?! Their makeup of extraordinary characters create an incredible power. Words can and do change lives.
I love the paths of new thinking that words create in my mind, therefore I read. This blog is a place for me to capture my feelings about the adventures I have taken within the confines of the written word. The following are purely my simple words of pleasure. Or not.
My Personal Rating Scale
5 = Absolutely Outstanding4.5 = Excellent4 = Very Good 3.5 = Good3 = Just Okay 2.5 = Eh2 = Not Enjoyable 1.5 = Ugh1 = Don't Bother
Unfortunately, due to my vanishing interest, it has become necessary for me to implement my "50-Page Rule". Fortunately, I am still eager to read The Chatham School Affair.
Paula ~ Disappointing for sure. However, at least I'm improving in my skills of abandoning books. :) Sometimes it's just timing, mood, etc. but this one - I have no interest in trying again.
Debi ~ You'll probably get to TCSA before me because I don't have it on any challenge lists, so it's not a current chosen read. Even though I've been wanting to read it for YEARS, I'm really not in the greatest frame of mind to try it any time soon anyway. I picked this one because it was a "Notable" and his latest, so I was excited. Oh well.
Trish ~ Thanks for the support. For me, it can be very difficult to abandon a book. Although, this time wasn't as bad . . . it's January with year-long challenges, so I have piles and piles of books to read. :)
Bummer! I'm always so excited to start a new book and when they turn out to be a sleeper it's so disappointing!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope you enjoy The Chathmam School Affair more than this one, as I have it on one of challenge lists.

Oh no! I have this on my TBR. I have Chatham School up this month. I hope I like them. It won't bother me to wait a bit the other one now. M
ReplyDeleteAmy ~ I've only heard great things about TCSA, so don't be discouraged. Also, 3M recently read this one, so she'll have more to share.
ReplyDeleteSometimes its just not the right time. Sometimes that time is never. :) Good for you for knowing when enough is enough.
ReplyDeleteYikes! I so like the title - too bad it doesn't match the content.

ReplyDeleteHeather ~ I loved the title, too!
