This challenge is one that I've been wanting to do for a very, very long time. All those series that I never made time for finally got picked up. Well, actually, I'm no where near "all", but at least I've completed 12. I will continue to read more "first in a series" as the year continues. It's been great fun for me and I'm not stopping now!
First in a Series 2008 Reads:
A Child Called "It" (Pelzer)
The Monkey's Raincoat (Crais)

Congratulations! You are doing so well with your challenges!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favourite challenge this year.
Nicola ~ Thank you! The only reason why I'm cruising along is because I'm listening to so many.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are enjoying it, too! I'm ready for more. :)
So happy to see that you enjoyed Immoral so much - it's waiting for me to pick it next. Of course, there's about 50 other books with there hands outstretched and waving, too.
ReplyDeleteWow...Congrats on yet another wrap-up, Joy!
ReplyDeleteSo which of the series were good enough that you think you'll follow through with the rest?
What a great challenge idea. I have A Child Called "It" on my shelf. My sister gave it to me a long time ago but I just haven't gotten around to reading it.
ReplyDeleteYou've been doing really well with your challenges, congrats! And I'm with Debi wanting to know which series you plan to continue with.
ReplyDeleteBooklogged ~ Hey...I have one of those piles, too! :)
ReplyDeleteDebi ~ In my individual book posts, I claim that I will continue with ALL of them, except for one - the Macomber series. However, it's going to take a long time to do that, especially with finding more series to try. :)
I have the Pelzer books already on my iPod, so I assume I will listen to the next one sooner rather than later; I've already read many of the Crais books in the series - just didn't start at the beginning with that one, so I'll continue to fill in; the next in the Penny series is one that I want to read soon, Freeman's next is high on my list, too, and the rest I want to read, but have no particular plans of when.
However, I am going to host the 2nds Challenge again this year, so I'll at least get 3 books read.
Mary ~ It's heart-wrenching, but I couldn't stop listening!
Tanabata ~ Thanks! See my response above for which series I will continue. I want to read the series by Blunt. I remember reading review(s) on your blog. There are just soooo many books and soooo little time!
Oh wow, that's great! I'm having a lot of fun with this challenge as I'm a stickler when it comes to mysteries - I have to start from the beginning. I am finally getting to some series I've been wanting to read. I'm super excited you'll be hosting the seconds challenge because I get the feeling I'll enjoy revisiting with some of the sleuths I've met this year :)
ReplyDeleteIliana ~ I'm glad you are getting to some that you've been wanting to read, too! It has been so much fun diving into them, hasn't it!?!
ReplyDeleteAs for beginning at the beginning, I really like to do that too, but sometimes (mainly in the past) I jumped the gun without knowing it. I started late into the Crais books and continued forward from there, so now I'm going back to fill in the missing pieces.
I most likely will use the 2nds Challenge to read the second book in several different series. I'm looking forward to that and glad to know that you'll be joining me! :)
WooHoo...another 2nds Challenge! I really enjoyed that one last year...and actually finished it :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I with Debi, WooHoo, another 2nds Challenge!!
ReplyDeleteI am continuing this challenge, even though I have one more to get my 12 on. I want to finish my list I posted and anything else that jumps into my hands that is a first in series. And it's just plain fun!
Debi ~ Me, too. It's crazy how much challenges encourage me. I guess they are just a fancy title for a list. :)
ReplyDeleteVickie ~ Glad to hear it! That'll make 4 of us. :)
I know that so many new series makes some people feel overwhelmed, but for me I like the idea that I can go and revisit some new friends - if I so choose.
