KISSCUT

Karin Slaughter
Genre: Thriller
Published: 2002
Personal Rating: 4/5
Yearly Count: 60

Soon after the chief of police, Jeffrey Tolliver, arrives at the local roller skating rink to meet his ex-wife Sara Linton, he discovers some teenagers in a dispute. It seems relatively harmless until he sees a gun in the girl's hand and it's pointing at the boy who's standing only several yards away.

This was just as graphic and brutal as the first one, except the subject matter in this one was more disturbing and offensive. The characters were all working through their own personal garbage, so it was a bit on the gloomy side, too. And, the language was very vulgar. Sounds like a great book, huh? Believe it or not, I like the characters - even the ones with rough edges. I think they are what keep me interested in the series. Kisscut is the second in the Grant Count Series.

I have been meaning to read this author's books as well. I had heard they were graphic, but they seem to be well liked. I'll keep your review in mind. Thanks!

  3. J. Kaye ~ Read at your own discretion. :) It might be a good idea to schedule a light read afterwards.

Kay ~ I plan on reading through the series, but they are tough. I think just knowing that will help. (read my response above, too)

  5. Normally I'm not put off by graphic books but this series really didn't appeal to me. I read this one and the first one and just couldn't continue. Glad you like the characters though and are enjoying the series!
Oh and I got my book from you - thank you so much! :)

Iliana ~ I didn't care for the topic in this one at all! I'm hoping the next is something I can tolerate better.
