Elvis Cole is hired to find a missing Japanese manuscript. Soon after, he is in search of the owner's daughter who has been kidnapped by Japanese gangsters.
Yikes. I didn't really like this one. Some of Cole's personal convictions came out, which was nice to see, but his attitude and behaviors didn't encourage me to like him. Also, I didn't care for the story line - just didn't interest me. It's a good thing I started in the middle of this series because I'm not so sure I would have continued.
Sorry the story line didn't grab you. I do like Elvis Cole, but mostly dig his partner, Joe Pike. I have decided to try and read this one in order at some point. See the growth of the characters.
ReplyDeleteThough I liked the Two-Minute Rule, I like the Joe Pike novels best. Of course, there is only one, THE WATCHMAN. I am not-so-patiently waiting for the second one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warning. With so many really good books available I don't want to waste time on so-so (or worse) books.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed a pleasant Thanksgiving day, Joy.
Almost forgot to tell say how fabulous your post is looking. Very nice title picture.
I've tagged you for the Bookworm Award! Check out the details here.
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog changes and the title page picture.
Joe Pike is my guy but even so, somewhere along the way I was disenchanted with the series and haven't kept up with it. I'm pretty sure I made it past Stalking the Angel though. ;) I can't believe that came out in 1989! Time flies.
ReplyDeleteVickie ~ I think I started with Hostage, went back and picked up some in the middle (not knowing it was a series - hello!), read some at the end, and then now, back to the beginning.
ReplyDeleteJ. Kaye ~ I stopped at The Watchman to go back and catch up. I'm looking forward to it.
Booklogged ~ I agree. :) Thanks for the compliment regarding my blog. My other header was temporary and I left it up for a year (?), so I finally decided to put up something else. It is however in progress. I'm not leaving it as is - too big for my liking. Now we'll see how soon I change this temporary one. lol
Bonnie ~ Thank you! I'll come check it out. I'll be making more adjustments to my blog, so keep posted. :)
Carrie K ~ It sure does! I most definitely like the later books better. I'm eager to get there. I plan on listening to the missing ones, so I don't feel like it wastes my time. (I multi-task with audiobooks.)
