THE ADORATION OF JENNA FOX

Author: Mary E. Pearson
Genre: YA Science Fiction, Standalone
Published: 2008
Personal Rating: 2.5/5 (eh)
Yearly Count: 61

Jenna Fox is a 17-year-old that was badly injured in an accident. Her father, as a scientist, had access to the latest technology to save her life - even when there was only 10% of Jenna's brain to save. When Jenna wakes up, she has to face who or what she has become.

Science fiction has really grown on me over the last couple of years, as has YA, but this one just didn't hit me right. Nothing stood out as red flags, but nothing enticed me either. However, at the end of the audio version, there was a short interview of Mary E. Pearson, and I did enjoy that.

  1. Aw, that's disappointing. I've had this one on my TBR list for a while.

It sounds interesting - too bad it didn't live up to its potential. I've seen the cover around, but didn't know anything about it. Thanks for the review!

  4. I've been wanting to listen to this one! I didn't realize it was SciFi. Not my favorite genre. Maybe I'll hold off a bit on it. Thanks for the review.

  5. Cassie ~ Read it! :) I know it is just me.

Bermudaonion ~ Me, too. It just didn't pull me in.

Stacybuckeye ~ It's regarded highly on Amazon, so don't take my word for it.

Beth F~ The SciFi is only in the medical field. It's more about Jenna and how she deals with her life. You will like it more than I did - I'm sure.

  6. I've read some really positive reviews of this one, but I picked up a copy in the library and it didn't interest me . . . at least at that moment (I'm definitely a flighty reader). I'm sorry it didn't work for you. I still plan to read it, someday, but not just yet. :)

  8. Bookfool ~ I only read (looked at ratings of) positive reviews and was really looking forward to it; however, I never actually knew the plot. That may have thrown me off some once I began. I don't know. Sometimes the timing just isn't right. :(

Nicola ~ Even if I liked it more, it wouldn't have ever fallen into the category of something special. It's another one crossed off the list, though. :)

  11. Dar ~ You win some and you lose some. :)

Framed ~ LOL I just said that very sentiment to someone else. This is just my opinion though. It's rated highly on Amazon.
