Detective Rob Ryan and his partner Cassie Maddox are in search of a child killer in the same woods where Rob Ryan's life was shattered as a young boy.
This had a slow, but intriguing start, and I grew to really enjoy the way Rob told the story. The double mystery definitely kept me reading; however, I was very disappointed in the ending. Also, the potential of a supernatural element was not to my liking. I felt connected to the characters, so I'm interested to find out what The Likeness has to offer.
I've had this for a while and am looking forward to reading it. Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteJoy, it seems that people either didn't like the ending or really liked it. I liked it, but I think the thoughts go about 80-20 among readers. I keep meaning to read The Likeness, but I have not yet. The author has a new book coming out this year. I must get caught up so I can read it.

ReplyDeleteI felt exactly the same way about this book, Joy. I was hoping for a bit more resolution at the end. I am eager to read The Likeness, though, because I found Cassie to be a very intriguing character and I can't wait to learn more about her.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this book and the ending didn't put me off -- too much. ;) I'll tell you, The Likeness is even better. I loved that book. And... guess what showed up in my mailbox the other day?!! Yep, Faithful Place by Tana French!! Woot!
ReplyDeleteI loved In the Woods but The Likeness struck a chord with me even more so. If you liked the characters in this one, I definitely think that you'll enjoy The Likeness. :)
