THE A.B.C. MURDERS

Author: Agatha Christie
Genre: Mystery, Hercule Poirot Series #12
Published: 1936
Personal Rating: 3.5/5 (good)
Format: Audiobook
Yearly Count: 10

A serial killer is intent on killing his way through the alphabet (victim's name and city). He sends typed, taunting letters to provoke Hercule Poirot, but also gives clues to the next murder scenario.

This was my first introduction* to Hercule Poirot, and I liked him. It took me by surprise that he was not the narrator, though.  I look forward to more mystery solving with him.

*Oops!  Apparently, I was already introduced to Hercule Poirot when I listened to Murder on the Orient Express!  I liked it more than this one.

  1. Poirot is my favorite! Was Hastings in this one? Sometimes he narrates, or gives his perspective, and he's funny, in a bumbling way. I think the ABC Murders is one of the few I remember the how or why of the murders.

I've tried Miss Marple several times, and I don't enjoy her at all, which is weird, because it's still Agatha, and I should. I do like Tommy and Tuppence though, quite a lot, they just don't have many books.

    1. Raidergirl3 ~ Hi! I happy to see you!

I can see why Poirot is your favorite! I think my feelings will grow stronger for him as I go along. Yes, Hastings was the narrator. I did like him narrating, but I got confused every now and again thinking it was Poirot.

I have read some Miss Marple and liked them, but I think Poirot has more of a chance to win my heart. :) Haven't read T&T yet, but I hope to at some point.

    1. Trish ~ I think that was my first one, too! I really liked it. From there I listened to another book or two, then I read some short stories with Miss Marple.

    1. Staci ~ Yes, I listen to more than I read these days, but I'm okay with that. I loved ATTWN! I just looked up my rating and found I gave it a 4.5/5. :) I also discovered that this was NOT my first Hercule Poirot. I listened to The Murder on the Orient Express. That was given a 4.25/5, so you may want to look into that one as well. Happy reading and listening, Staci!
