THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET'S NEST

Author: Stieg Larsson
Genre: Fiction, Lisbeth Salander
Trilogy #3
Published:  2010
Personal Rating: 3.75/5 (good +)
Format: Audiobook
Yearly Count: 12

When Lisbeth Salander wakes up in a hospital bed, she finds herself in custody for attempted murder, as well as, other charges.

The first half of the book consisted of a lot of rambling.  I was tired of hearing descriptions and backstory that if I weren't listening to it, I may have called it quits.  My husband told me to keep listening, it would get better.  Thankfully by mid-book, it did.  However, what I did notice was the same as with the second in this trilogy -- if Salander wasn't in the scene, I wasn't as interested.  Overall, I am happy with the conclusion and glad I stuck it out.

  1. Good for your husband for encouraging you to keep going.

I just loved the second book, which I read to start the reading year off. I plan to read this sometime this year. Can't wait!

    1. Raidergirl3 ~ My husband ended up liking it more than I did, but it was still a very good ending to the trilogy. My friend was the one that said I needed to get to it sooner rather than later. She couldn't put it down. I hope that happens for you. :)

    1. Bermudaonion ~ I did, too. If I remember correctly, we saw the second one as well and enjoyed it.

    1. Diane ~ She was a very distinct and unique character. One I don't think any of us that have read this trilogy (or maybe watched the movies) will easily forget. I hope you enjoy #3!

  4. Yesterday I had breakfast with mom, sister, and cousin and they all RAVED about this series. Having only read (and listened) to the first I didn't have much to offer. What we determined, though, was that they all had a major girl crush on Salandar. Ha! One day I'll move on to the next books--just not in any hurry. ;)

    1. Trish ~ I, personally, wouldn't go that far, but she's definitely captivating in an odd way.

  5. My son will be listening to this one on audio because that's all the library on base has. I will be trying to read all 3 of these this year! Glad that your husband told you to just keep on!!

    1. Staci ~ In general, they are too long for me to read, so I probably wouldn't haven't attempted them if they weren't on audio. So once again, HOORAY for audiobooks! :)

  6. Lizbet is the only reason I'd go back to the trilogy if I do. I listened to the first one at my sister's urging, but haven't been overly intrigued to read or listen to the rest. I get stubborn at times with books.

    Ditto

I especially enjoyed the courtroom drama.
