Will Trent, Georgie Bureau of Investigation, has a murder and kidnapping case. He, also, has to deal with the fallout of a previous case, as well as a new partner (who was affected by that case) and his dyslexia.
This one didn't grab me, but I still thought it was good. I actually liked getting to know the main characters more than the plot. Both partners have had interesting childhoods, which helps to create interesting characters. The exploration of dyslexia was of great interest to me, as I deal with children that have difficulties with reading and writing. I look forward to seeing where this partnership evolves.
I think I liked this one more than you, Joy. However, I will say that if you include Will Trent in a book, I'm so there. He is endlessly fascinating to me.
ReplyDeleteKay ~ I find him fascinating, too! I almost gave it a 4, but it didn't have that pull that I needed.
DeleteI need to get back to Karin Slaughter. I'm pretty sure this one is next on my list from her. It's been too long. I found Will interesting in the first book.
ReplyDeleteSuziQoregon ~ I liked the first one better, but am intrigued by Will's character so this one was still good. I really want to get back to Grant County, though! And many other destinations that some favorite characters live!
DeleteIf I remember correctly, you enjoyed Gillian Flynn's books. Her latest Gone Girl was excellent. Pick it up! :)
I listened to one Karin Slaughter book and the accents were so wrong I was driven to distraction - I need to try one in print.
ReplyDeleteBermudaonion ~ I know how narrators can make or break a book. I didn't have a problem with this one.
DeleteI've loved all of her books and haven't gotten to this one..yet! I might try it on audio!
ReplyDeleteStaci ~ I hope you love this one as well! :)
