HOME FRONT

Author: Kristin Hannah
Genre: Fiction, Standalone
Published:  2012
Personal Rating: 2/5 (not enjoyable)
Format: Audiobook
Yearly Count:  45

Michael and Jolene Zarkades begin with a rocky marriage, then Jolene is deployed to Iraq.  They all (two children, as well) have to deal with the realities of war.

This was not a bad book, it just was not a style that I enjoy.  I liked the message that the author was trying to convey, but not the method.  Nothing worked for me, so I'm bowing out now.  It's highly rated most places I have seen, so don't mind me.

  1. You are a tough grader, Joy, but you definitely know what you like! I get a kick out of your reviews. And I sit up and take notice when you mark things a 4-5.

Did you know there will be a new P.J. Tracy books this summer?? And a Linda Castillo?? And Tana French and Karin Slaughter and...can you tell I'm excited?

    1. Kay ~ I read another book by her and gave it a 1.5/5, so this one was a tad better. At least I gave her another go and try to expand my horizons. :)

NO! YES! YES! Maybe. :) Hooray for all of them! I'm looking forward to the new John Verdon and cannot wait for Kwei Quartey's latest, but I have no idea when that's coming out.

    1. Staci ~ Yes. I'm not going to try any more by her.

This year has been especially bad for ratings. I'm a tad sad and annoyed. However, it's because I've been reading a LOT out of my preferred mystery/thriller genre, and it shows! Those usually get a 4 (very good) or more.
