This was not a bad book, it just was not a style that I enjoy. I liked the message that the author was trying to convey, but not the method. Nothing worked for me, so I'm bowing out now. It's highly rated most places I have seen, so don't mind me.
You are a tough grader, Joy, but you definitely know what you like! I get a kick out of your reviews. And I sit up and take notice when you mark things a 4-5.
ReplyDeleteDid you know there will be a new P.J. Tracy books this summer?? And a Linda Castillo?? And Tana French and Karin Slaughter and...can you tell I'm excited?
Kay ~ I read another book by her and gave it a 1.5/5, so this one was a tad better. At least I gave her another go and try to expand my horizons. :)
DeleteNO! YES! YES! Maybe. :) Hooray for all of them! I'm looking forward to the new John Verdon and cannot wait for Kwei Quartey's latest, but I have no idea when that's coming out.
The new P.J. Tracy is coming on August 2nd and is called OFF THE GRID. Can...not...wait!!!!
DeleteKay ~ Thanks! :)
DeleteMy sister really liked this one - sorry it didn't work for you.
ReplyDeleteBermudaonion ~ If she loves this genre or style, then I understand. It's not for me.
DeleteI've tried this author a couple of times and know she's not for me. However, I'm thrilled to learn that PJ Tracy has a new one coming out!! Thanks, Kay! :)
ReplyDeleteLes ~ Two is enough to know that she's not for me! And, I agree, the Tracy book is exciting. They obviously are back on the ball. :)
DeleteI like this author too! Ha! Another author bites the dust for you!
ReplyDeleteSee it's a rare thing when you give out a high rating so when you do I know that I have to read that book!!!
Staci ~ Yes. I'm not going to try any more by her.
DeleteThis year has been especially bad for ratings. I'm a tad sad and annoyed. However, it's because I've been reading a LOT out of my preferred mystery/thriller genre, and it shows! Those usually get a 4 (very good) or more.
