Author:  Lisa Gardner
Genre:  Mystery, D.D. Warren Series #5/
Tessa Leoni Series #1
Published:  2012
Personal Rating: 3.75/5 (good +)
Format/Narrator:  Audiobook/Kirsten Potter
Yearly Count:  31

D.D. Warren's current case looks simple enough to process, a beaten wife who says she has killed her husband in self-defense.  The problem is the six-year-old daughter is missing and the wife is a state trooper -- both of which complicate the case.

I think this is a terrific series, and this book was just as compelling as the rest.  However, in the long run, I felt like I had to suspend disbelief a bit too much.  It contained a lot of twists and turns that kept me listening, though, and I look forward to the next.

  1. I have a copy of this one. I have read and liked a few of her other books.

    1. Staci ~ I'm liking this series a lot. I'm just a mystery/police procedure loving type of gal.

  2. If the author can keep me absorbed enough not question until I've finished the novel, I'm satisfied. I don't mind questioning after I've finished, but if I have to stop and shake my head too often while reading, then I'm annoyed.

Don't think I've read anything by Gardner...will have to give her a try.

    1. Jenclair ~ I think I was a bit annoyed throughout, but D.D. is a solid character, so she held it together for me. :)

  3. This is one of those authors that I've been meaning to try but never have. I feel like there are so many of these :) I do want to try her at some point especially since you said that you were a fan of this series!

    1. Samantha ~ Yep! I'm definitely a fan of this series. I think I'm almost caught up.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. :)

I hope you have a great day and ...
Happy Reading!
