LEAVING EVERYTHING MOST LOVED

Author:  Jacqueline Winspear
Genre:  Mystery, Maisie Dobbs Series #10
Published:  2013
Personal Rating:  3.5/5 (good)
Format/Narrator:  Audiobook/
Orlagh Cassidy
Yearly Count:  44

An Indian immigrant has been murdered, and Maisie Dobbs is asked by the decease's brother to investigate because Scotland Yard has not made any progress on the case.

In general, this has been a very good, stable series for me.  However, I hope the changes in Maisie's life will give the next book a jump start and revert back to being excellent.  I absolutely love the narrator and am delighted to be back with Maisie every time I begin listening to a new book, but I haven't found the story lines to be stellar.  I'm looking forward to what #11 will bring!

  1. I've only read one Maisie book and I didn't love it. Afterward everyone told me it's the weakest book in the series.

    1. Bermudaonion ~ This is one of those series that should be read in order. The first one is vital to investing in Maisie.

  3. I still have to read book one but am noting this narrator. I looked her up on audible.com and noticed that she is now the narrator for this series starting with book 3.

    1. Staci ~ I don't remember the narrator for the first two, but I know I rated the first one 4.5/5! :) I think I only read 1 out of the whole series.

  4. I love this series, though I skipped Elegy for Eddie because the subject was too sad for me. Am part way through Leaving Everything Most Loved, and JW is doing a good job catching me up on what I missed.

    1. Nan ~ It's interesting . . . I say I love this series, but my ratings really don't reflect love. Hmmmm

  5. I enjoy listening to these books, but I can't say that I've loved any in the series. However, Cassidy is a perfect reader and really brings the stories to life. All in all, I'd have to say they're entertaining, but there are none that I feel compelled to re-read.

    1. Les ~ I agree with your statement about Cassidy. I'm not a re-reader, so I can't base my thoughts off that feeling. I think it's just running the course of a series - ups and downs. Here's hoping that this book will propel it into more of an upward motion.
