A civil war is on the brink in this dystopian world housed in Chicago.
I was happy that this one continued where it left off from the first in the trilogy, but I couldn't remember the first one very clearly and there wasn't much update. I did catch on. What I noticed most, even in the down times, was that there was always, always, always something going on. There was constant movement or plan in place. Good idea? I don't know. It made me feel like nothing was especially important when the high was always there. Needless to say, overall, I enjoyed it.
Thoughts of Joy
I have yet to try this series. Not sure it's my cuppa tea, but ya never know.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good summer, Joy. I don't know where the time goes, but I feel like I haven't had enough time to visit blogs lately. Or post. Or read. I think I need a big snowstorm! ;)
Les ~ Tee Hee to the "big snowstorm!" I love the snow, so my winter was amazing! With 8 days off school, who could ask for anything better?! :)
DeleteI'm listening to The 5th Wave now and this one is similar in its YA writing. You might enjoy it more than you think.
Thanks for the recommendation. I actually read The 5th Wave a year ago May and gave it a 4.75/5 rating. You can read my review here, if you like.
ReplyDeleteLes ~ I remembered that you read it when I picked it up as an audio. I started reading it (yes, I have a hard copy) forever ago, but wanted to give it my full attention, so set it aside for last summer. I never got to it. When I saw it as an audio, I snatched it up. I'm almost done with it now and have been interested throughout, but haven't liked it as much as you.
DeleteRe-reading your comment to me, I realize you were say I might enjoy Insurgent more than I think. You're probably right. I'll give it a try one of these days!
ReplyDeleteLes ~ Yep! That's what I was saying. :)
