NEWS OF THE WORLD

Author:  Paulette Jiles
Genre:  Fiction, Standalone
Published:  2016
Personal Rating:  3.5/5 (good)
Format/Narrator:  Audiobook/Grover Gardner
Yearly Count:  1

During the aftermath of the Civil War, Captain Kidd, a traveling newspaper reader, is asked to deliver a 10-year-old girl to her relatives 400 miles away.

This book was my introduction to Jiles.  I enjoyed her style of writing and thought the storyline was good, but incredibly predictable.  Now the narrator, Grover Gardner, was very good.

  2. My mom just finished reading this one and is going to loan it to me. I don't generally read books set in America during this time period, but I'll give it a try.

  3. Vicki ~ It was good, but most people like it more than I did, so it may be a good idea to pick it up again. Hope you love it, if you do.
