Nick and Tessa Russo live in Boston where Nick is a pediatric surgeon at the local hospital, and Tessa is currently a stay-at-home mom to their two children. An accident involving a little boy causes Nick to return to the hospital, and it changes the lives of everybody involved.
Giffin did a great job in telling this story. It seemed very realistic, and it's sad that this kind of thing happens so often. While I did have good and bad feelings towards specific characters, I didn't find them to be particularly engaging. It was a surprise to me that Tessa was the sister of Dex who was in Something Borrowed, though. Ultimately, I was interested in knowing how the drama was going to be resolved, and it was a good diversion while cleaning.
I'm glad to hear this one worked well enough for you. I've not read any of Emily Giffin's books, but I keep meaning to. I saw the movie of Something Borrowed last year and didn't really like it, but I may need to give it another chance.
ReplyDeleteKay ~ This has a similar feel, so . . .
DeleteI really want to try Giffin's work.
ReplyDeleteBermudaonion ~ She can tell a good story. :)
DeleteThis is the only book of Giffin's that I've read. I gave it the exact same rating as you. Not sure if I'll read anymore by her...unless, of course, you do and give it a 4+ rating. :)
ReplyDeleteLes ~ You made me laugh. There's a part of me that really wants to enjoy Chick-Lit, but it just doesn't appeal to me. However, I have to read light, silly stuff every now and again so that I don't burn out my love for the darker genres or repetitive feeling you can get from police procedural reading. :)
