Personal Rating: DNF
I read sixty-some pages of this and it just wasn't hitting me. The style of writing was not what I enjoy, so . . . I'm not going to finish it. I have no plans of picking it up again, so off the list it goes. *deep sigh* I have a great sense of relief now.
Awww, sorry to hear it wasn't for you. I actually really loved this book but have to admit I skipped over all the bird bits.
ReplyDeleteNicola ~ I began doing that (skipping some parts) and then just gave up. The actual story was what I wanted to read, but it wasn't good enough for me to read and skip through 450 pages!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see I wasn't the only one who did not like this book. I did read the whole thing but it was not enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI just don't "get" Richard Powers at all. I've made it through a couple of his books but they were struggles for me. Enough is enough.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Joy. No sense reading something that doesn't sit well when there are so many other good books out there.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you didn't care for this one, Joy. I haven't yet read it, but I've been considering it.
ReplyDeleteFern Chasida ~ It's taken me years and years to get to this point of actually not finishing a book. This one was way too long for me to stick it out.
ReplyDeleteSam ~ I have no desire to try another of his. So I'm in the same boat.
Booklogged ~ You got that right! I'm learning. :)
Literary Feline ~ It's not that it's "bad", just not appealing. Although, the bird parts were boring and difficult to read. Although, I still think I may have enjoyed the main storyline, but I'm moving on.
Oh crap. I've got this one on my book awards list, and I've really been looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteDebi ~ You may like it, Debi, many people do. You can always give it a try and see for yourself.
