Truman Capote
Personal Rating: 3/5
Yearly Count: 113
In this book, Capote shares a fond memory of himself at the age of 7 with his much older (mid-sixties) cousin during the holiday season. I didn't find anything special in the memoir or anything great about the writing. It wasn't boring and it wasn't lacking in tender moments, but like I said...nothing special. I must be missing the real message. ???
I haven't read anything by Capote. I've always been interested, but apparently not interested to pick something up. :) Hmmm...lots of challenges over there on the side bar. ;) I've decided I'm going to be REALLY picky in 2008. I only have 4 more challenge books left and I WILL finish. ha ha!
ReplyDeleteI've only read In cold Blood my Capote and that was very good.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how many books you have read this year and we still have a month to go!
Trish ~ I read Breakfast at Tiffany's and was not impressed, but I'm NOT a fan of classics so I wasn't surprised. :) This one had been mentioned to me many, many times, so I thought I'd give it a try this year being that it's a short children's book. My husband has read In Cold Blood and thought it was very good.
ReplyDeleteAs for challenges, MOST of the books I plan to read are cross-challenged. I believe I'm only committed to 62 books for 11 challenges and 12 of those are children's picture books. And another 12 are YA books. I think it works out great! I definitely wanted room for "whimpulse" (Suzi's word) reads.
Also, I do believe I said I wasn't going to join any "outside" challenges...you are right! However, I said that because outside challenges made me stretch out of my comfort zone and I do NOT want to do that this year. Since saying that 'not joining' nonsense, there have been challenges that fit what I WANT to read and had already been chosen for other challenges, therefore...I joined.
I hope this explains my past jibber...it was foolish of me to think I wouldn't join any challenges. :)
Alix ~ As I mentioned above, my husband liked that one too. I think there's other books I'd rather read more.
ReplyDeleteAs for my yearly count, you have to know that I have read many Newbery winners (children's books) and listened to a lot of audiobooks. Between the two of those, the number has racked up. I'm not complaining! Just explaining. :)
