THE VICIOUS VET

M. C. Beaton
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Published: 1993
Personal Rating: 4/5
Yearly Count: 53

The second in the Agatha Raisin series introduces a veternarian to the village in the Cotswolds. This vet has turned the heads of all the women including Agatha who feels shunned by her neighbor and romantic interest, James Lacey. Unfortunately, soon after the vet's arrival, he is found dead. Agatha and James decide to play sleuths and begin questioning others - just for the fun of it.

I enjoyed this one so much more than the first. There was never a dull moment with Agatha's vivid personality. She entertained me with her views, embellishments and wit. She's quite the character and one that am eager to meet up with again.

Isn't Agatha a hoot? I've really enjoyed this series. Look forward to every one.

  4. Kay ~ I'm certainly looking forward to the next one. I put the next two audiobooks in the series on hold at my library. :)

Dot ~ I listened to this one and plan on listening to as many as I can. The narrator was fabulous.

Debi ~ She's quirky and delightful. They do smoke and drink a lot in this series, though. Maybe it's an English thing.

  5. I thought the first few of the series were fun, but then I kind of lost interest - didn't enjoy the last one I listened to (#6) at all. Probably won't continue with this series.

  6. I JUST found out what the term "cozy mystery" means! I had actually never even heard the term until I started blogging. When a co-worker mentioned it, she was kind of surprised when I asked her what the term meant. :) This sounds like a fun read.

  7. Suzi ~ Oh, that's too bad. I'm just starting to like them - I hope it lasts. :)

Trish ~ It has taken me quite some time to get used to "cozy mysteries", but they are growing on me. There are a slew of them out there, so if you don't like one, there are many more to choose from.
