FEARLESS FOURTEEN

Author:  Janet Evanovich
Genre:  Chick Lit
Published:  2008
Personal Rating:  2.75/5
Yearly Count:  151

Stephanie Plum finds herself babysitting a teenager for a kidnapped victim, being a bodyguard for a wayward star and searching for stolen money.

Phew!  I'm caught up with the series - which was my goal.  I did think this one was better than "13", but I didn't really like it.  Stephanie kept herself busy with other jobs beside bounty hunting, which allowed her to show another dimension of herself and Lula experienced some excitement in her life, but other than that, there were the same type of ridiculous characters and dialog that possibly has me closing this chapter of my reading.

There wasn't enough of Grandma Mazur in it, and she's my favorite character in the series.

  2. I'm sorry that the series didn't end with a bang! Is this her last or is she going to keep going?

  3. Bermudaonion ~ I think I'm just burnt out on this series. I'm not a big fan of too much silliness or fluff and I think this one has reached my limit.

Trish ~ Fearless Fourteen has left a cliffhanger, so there will be a Fifteen. I don't know how much longer she can keep her fans happy.

  4. I'll keep reading. Although I get them from the library, I don't buy them. I love Lula and Grandma Mazur.

  5. Oh, are you going to give up now? I believe I've heard the rumor that Evanovich is ending it at 15. I LOVED this series through about book 6 and then I think it goes down hill. There are a few that redeem themselves later on. But I agree. They are not what they were in the beginning. Yet, I feel compelled to finish them all. I still have to read 13 and I'm waiting until 14 comes out in bargain books before I purchase it.

  6. I think they took a drop around 9 or 10, but still haven't lost it completely for me. I have 14 to read before Christmas so I can give my (gently used) copy in a bag of books to a friend.

  7. I think I stopped around #9 or #10. Not sure, but I doubt I'll read anymore. Sometimes an author should quit when they're ahead, don't you think?

BTW, I LOVE your new header!!!!!!

  8. Dar ~ For the most part, I have enjoyed Lula.

Holly ~ No purchasing for me. I checked out the CDs from the library. AND, IF 15 is the last one, then I will certainly finish it out. It would be a good thing for her to stop. :)

Lisa ~ There was a huge turn for me when the language became much more prevalent. I didn't appreciate it at all.

Les ~ Yep, I think she should have gone out when her audience was still wanting more.

Thank you for the compliment regarding my header. There's more to do, but for now that's how it is.

  9. I've only read the first novel in the series so far. This lady is a machine to keep putting new novels out like this. I guess she hasn't gotten sick of the characters yet. I'm not sure if I have the stamina to read all sixteen or so in the series, though. :)

  10. Rabid Fox ~ I enjoyed the beginning of the series more so than these later ones. I don't know how long she plans to continue. If she says that 15 or 16 is her last book, then I will read them. Otherwise, I'm not sure if I'll advance with her.
