Set in 1964, Felix Funicello is in the fifth grade at a Catholic school. We watch as he goes through the year up until Christmas.
Boring.
Oh now! Sorry to see this bored you - I really enjoyed it when I read it last year.
ReplyDeleteBermudaonion ~ Wishin' I did! *grin*
ReplyDeleteOh, you slay me!!
ReplyDeleteI've got this on hold at the library for my Christmas book this December.
Boring? egads...I'll stay away then!
ReplyDeleteLOL! That just goes to show how short a review can be and still get the point across. :)
ReplyDeleteNicola ~ Maybe I'm just not a fan of Christmas fiction. IDK I just started A Simple Amish Christmas so we'll see how this one pans out.
ReplyDeleteStaci ~ Ummm, I really was bored to tears. Most often when I continue it's because I still have an inkling of desire to find out the ending. That did not happen with this one. I stuck it out because there were only 4 discs.
Bookfool ~ Since posting my in-depth review, I have read that others thought it was boring, too. However, the nastalgia they felt within the era in which it was written overrode the boring nature of the story. I appreciated the era, but for me it wasn't enough to snuff out the lack of a good story.
Oh Joy! You're a hard one to please:) Maybe Christmas fiction based in the 50's/60's isn't your thing. I enjoyed this one.
ReplyDeleteBonnie ~ Like my kids say - it's not that we are hard to please, we just know what we like. :) Trust me, Bonnie. If I could change certain things about me, I would. However, I was made the way God intended, so I must accept that in His eyes I'm perfect just the way I am. *big goofy grin*
ReplyDeleteYou gotta give me credit for coming up with a fantastic excuse, right?!
Sittin' here with a huge grin on my face. I love your reviews, Joy!! Thanks for your honesty. I'll pass on this one. :)
ReplyDeleteLes ~ I don't mean to be disrespectful to Wally. I really enjoyed two of his other books, but this one simply didn't keep me engaged.
