Mockingjay - 2/5 (not enjoyable)
I think my rating speaks for itself.
WOW! I will stop hoping that the third one shows up on Recorded Books. I loved the first one, second was intriguing, but not as good...I believe I see concurrence...
ReplyDeleteWow!!! My son loved it...now I need to get to book 2 and then this one sometime..sorry that it was not enjoyable..that is a bummer for sure. Hope I enjoy it when I read it!
ReplyDeleteVickie ~ It could have been a mood/timing issue, but I was bored through more than half of the book.
ReplyDeleteStaci ~ I'm fairly certain you'll enjoy the second one, and I hope the third is just as good for you. It was almost a DNF for me because I was so bored, but how could I give up on the last book in a trilogy? At least I know what happens to everybody.
I've been putting off reading this one as I've read such mixed reviews and it isn't calling me. I want to finish the series but I've gotten it from the library several times and it goes back unread. I liked the first one, the second one wasn't as good so we are in agreement there.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!
ReplyDeleteI've read and listened to the first (never reviewed so I *might* listen again just to get a post up one of these days), but I haven't had any desire to continue even though I own all three.
Oh, finished Knife of Never Letting Go--I remember seeing your less than positive review months ago. Ya. Blah. Don't think I'll continue that series either.
Hope you're well, Joy. ;)
The Hunger Games (4.5/5)
ReplyDeleteCatching Fire (2.5/5)
Mocking Jay - DNF
We're definitely on the same page! :)
Bonnie ~ I don't think it's worth the time - too many other books to pursue. However, I know what it's like to want to finish a series.
ReplyDeleteTrish ~ Yes, my thoughts were not positive of TKogNLG. I'm happy for a like-mind, but truly am sorry you didn't like it more than me. At least it was fast and we no longer have to wonder about it, right?
Les ~ OMGoodness! LOL I almost gave up on it, too.
I've been waiting to read this series for when I had the time to read them all together. Now I don't know if it's worth it!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm really glad you did enjoy the first one though, Joy. I loved this series and gave every book a 5/5. I just loved the ending of Mockingjay, but then I'm not a fan of happy endings.
ReplyDeleteStacybuckeye ~ The first one was well worth it. You can stop there and ask somebody to fill you in on how it all turns out. :)
ReplyDeleteNicola ~ What a treat this whole series was for you! How awesome! Are they displayed in a prominent spot on your bookshelves? :)
I enjoyed the entire series, which was a huge shock for me because I don't like dystopia, I don't read much YA and I hate first person, present tense! But, I just devoured this series. My favorite was actually Catching Fire, but I enjoyed all of them. I usually differ from the majority on a lot of popular books though. For example, I didn't like The Help and most everyone else did, nor did I love the Twilight series. I thought the path that Mockingjay took was appropriate to the storyline, even if it wasn't the happy, predictable ending people would have liked. I saw hope at the end. I thought the film was a terrific adaptation too.
ReplyDeleteIt's always frustrating when books don't live up to our expectations, isn't it?
Holly ~ Wow! I'm so glad you loved this series. It's great when that happens, isn't it? And not so great when they don't hit the spot.
DeleteI loved The Help and only read two of the Twilight series, but really only liked the first. I think life circumstances and mood play a major role in how we respond to books, but we can only hope for amazing experiences with every book we pick up. :)
