BOSSYPANTS

Author:  Tina Fey
Genre:  Memoir, Standalone
Published:  2011
Personal Rating:  3.5/5 (good)
Format:  Audiobook
Yearly Count:  57

Tina Fey adds her twist of humor as she shares minute parts of her life.

I really enjoy Tina Fey, although, I have not seen 30 Rock (which she would not be surprised), but have enjoyed her Sarah Palin impressions and at least one movie I can think of with Dan Carell.  So, being that I'm not a big time fan or follower, I thought this book would enlighten me.  It shed a little light into the real Tina Fey, but not much.  There were definitely times when I grinned, let a chuckle escape unexpectedly and literally laughed out loud (while riding my bike outside!).  Other than that, the book didn't make a big impression on me.  Not sure if I expected more humor, less humor with more personal anecdotes or what, but it didn't make it past good for me.  It's short (5 CDs), so it was worth the time - little laughs for little time.

  1. I enjoyed this book. I liked the fact that she said women really aren't competing against each other.

Diane ~ At least I enjoyed a few laughs. :) It wasn't bad by any means. I think I expected more than was delivered.

  5. Staci ~ I think that's probably a part of why it didn't really work for me.

Love her and look forward to the audio. 30 Rock is very funny, but I didn't like it right away. It took me a few episodes because it is so different.

  8. During my first several weeks after having Elle I watched allllll the seasons of 30 Rock. Many in the middle of the night. Love the show and am kind of sad I rushed through the episodes so quickly. I then went and bought the book but it still sits on my floor. Probably will for a while. Hoping I like it better than you did but glad you got a few laughs--on the bike even! ;)

  9. Trish ~ Being that you have more of a connection to her, the book may have more meaning to you. I wish it had more laughs for me, but I'll take the few I got! One day I'll check out 30 Rock.
