Simply Couldn't Resist!

The Kindle Touch

Yep!  It's pre-ordered!  :)

  1. I know! I've been waiting and waiting and waiting to get an ereader. I can't decide between the Touch and the Fire. I don't like that the Fire only has 7-8 hours of battery life, though.

  2. 1morechapter ~ I love my eReaders (Kindle Keyboard and iPad), but couldn't resist the Kindle Touch. I use my iPad the most (it's my "laptop" with numerous eReaders), but still love the Kindle idea. I use it when I don't have my traveling computer (iPad) with me. However, I really wanted my kindle to be touch, so . . . Kindle Touch it is! And I think the $99 price is great. There are many in this family begging for my Kindle Keyboard already, so there will be no waste! :)

Good luck in making your decision. Let me know.

  4. Not a B&N Simple Touch? :( ;)

  5. Les ~ Nope. Sorry. No offense. :)

    Reasons:

    1. I already have a Kindle Keyboard so obviously I have an extensive library already built up (I think Mr. Joy has claimed it)
    2. Kindle Touch is less expensive
    3. KT has text-to-speech ability
    4. I almost never purchase books from B&N. (Eek!) Amazon has incredible deals.

The only thing I didn't like about the Kindle (any kind) was that I couldn't get library books, but that is no longer the case. Oh, I take that back. I didn't like that it wasn't touch, too. It felt archaic, especially after using my iPad. And, that now has been addressed as well.

    Make sense? :)

  6. Just wondering if you're getting wi-fi only or the 3g. I'm wondering if the 3g is necessary.

  7. 1morechapter ~ Funny! I just posted a comment on your blog and came back here to a comment from you. :)

Wi-Fi. Personally, I believe that's all that's needed for the Touch. I don't know all the capabilities of the Fire, but all 3G does is gives you the privilege of downloading anywhere anytime. Once you have an eReader, books just multiply in it (I swear they do!), so there's no need to have to download a specific book at a wacky time or place.

  8. That's kind of what I was thinking. I use Kindle for PC and have a lot of books on it already so was leaning toward just the wi-fi.

  10. Yes! Now I can learn from someone I trust whether or not I should get one!

  11. Staci ~ Do you have a home for your current Kindle, if you venture to the Touch side? I'm really excited about it.

  12. My husband and I are giving each other the Kindle Fire for Christmas this year. I am so excited! I do have a nook, which I love--but I just couldn't resist.

  13. Ok, I've got the audiobooks down. I haven't counted yet but I think I've probably listened to 3x as many books as I've read this year.

But I'm just not ready for ebooks! I have two loaded on my ipad that I hope to read this month (not sure what I'm thinking!?), but...

  14. Literary Feline ~ What wonderful Christmas gifts! I'm excited, too!

Trish ~ Hooray! Sometimes audiobooks are all I can manage. They have been a saving grace. However, I still love the written word in book form and electronic versions. The ease of not holding an actual book comes in very handy when reading with an eReader. I'm surprised at how much I have enjoyed eBooks.
