WE WERE LIARS

Author:  E. Lockhart
Genre:  YA Fiction, Standalone
Published:  2014
Personal Rating:  3/5 (just okay)
Format/Narrator:  Audiobook/Ariadne Meyers
Yearly Count:  40

Every year, Cadence and her extended family stay on their private island throughout the summer months.  During Summer 15, something happens to Cadence which creates migraines and amnesia surrounding that summer.

This will probably be more of a thrill ride for the targeted audience -- Young Adult.  For me, it was just okay.  I was somewhat surprised with the twist, but wasn't gasping because I never became deeply invested in the characters.  It's a quick read/listen, with a lot of young adult wonderings.  As I stated already, probably perfect for the YA crowd.

  1. This one's sure getting a lot of buzz. I might have to wait a while to give it a try.

    1. Bermudaonion ~ It sure is and 99% of it is high marks! I think it was a little to young for me with all the wonderings.

  2. I've been hearing A LOT about this one...and of course the twist. I'm just going to have to wait for a year or two--when I know there's a twist it's all I can focus on when reading.

Have you read Frankie Landau? I liked that one--but again, light and young.

    1. Trish ~ Ummm, no I didn't really like that one. I thought it was ho-hum. Less than a 3/5! Eek! So, that may tell me something about the writing/author. Oh well. I hope you LOVE it! :)

I've skimmed other reviews of this one and it didn't even register that it was a YA book! I think I need a vacation!

    1. Stacybuckeye ~ Vacations are good - go for it! :) But, yes. It is a YA. It has some interesting points, but I never got connected.
